If a burial plot is not situated in a lawned (grassed) area of the cemetery or churchyard, and the church regulations permit this, concrete or granite kerbs can be fixed to surround the plot. These are fixed on to concrete foundations.
The surface of the grave can then be grassed over or concreted. The concrete surface is then usually covered with granite or glass chippings. Click here for more information about Memorial Additions.
A few examples of kerb shapes and colours are shown in the photographs.
All characteristics of the memorial and foundation are subject to the cemetery and churchyard regulations in place at the time of applying for permission and these regulations are subject to change.
